Families in India can use forty coconuts a week in their cooking. Using this grater, a cook scoops out coconut meat with the turtle's tail and grates the coconut meat on its shell. A plate formed of 18:8 stainless steel with two sizes of grating holes—small for nutmegs and large for vegetables—the shell is nailed by hand to the turtle's brass legs. The whimsical form of this grater gives it a livelier appearance than a standard tool.
