A "railroad" sausage stuffer used gear power to force meat through a tin cylinder. The operator cranked the handle to push a plunger disk along the grooved track to expel meat into the casing tube. Many types of railroad sausage stuffers were invented during the period of industrial innovation in the late 19th century.
